House Health Committee to Hold Hearing on Statewide Sterilization Procedure Certification in Health Care Facilities

WHAT: The House Health Committee, chaired by Rep. Matt Baker (R-Bradford/Tioga), will hold a public hearing on House Bill 2290, authored by Rep. Mauree Gingrich (R-Lebanon). The legislation would allow for certification of central supply technicians who perform sterilization procedures in health care facilities, impose continuing education requirements and outline the duties of health care facilities and the state Department of Health.


WHO: Baker, Gingrich and members of the committee, with testimony offered by the Pennsylvania Department of  Health; Michelle DeMaeo, former central service technician; Anna Grayson, MS, RN, CRCST, manager, sterile processing case cart, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital; and Lauren D. Lloyd, director, recruitment, UPMC talent acquisition, UPMC Health System.
