National Federation of Independent Business Names Baker a ‘Guardian of Small Business’
HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Leadership Council of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) this week named Rep. Matt Baker (R-Bradford/Tioga) a “Guardian of Small Business.”
Baker is being recognized based on his outstanding pro-business voting record during the 2011-12 legislative session.
“Bradford and Tioga counties are home to countless small businesses that employee thousands of local residents and impact the regional economy immensely,” said Baker. “As a legislator who works to craft a state budget every year, I realize the importance of our small business community and always aim to support legislative measures that will enable small businesses to establish themselves, grow and succeed here in the Commonwealth.”
“Guardians of Small Business” designations are awarded to legislators who consistently vote favorably on key small-business issues. The votes tracked this session are among the highest priorities of NFIB’s small business agenda -- legal reform and regulatory relief, tax and fiscal policy, and unemployment and workers compensation reforms.
