Baker Welcomes $4,427 in State Support for Local Arts Programs
Rep. Matt Baker (R-Bradford/Tioga) announced $4,427 in funding for two local arts programs in Tioga County from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
“The strained economy is affecting every sector of the Commonwealth, and art and cultural programs are no exception,” said Baker. “In a budget year when reductions were necessary to so many agencies, it is especially good news to learn that funding for these programs is continuing.”
Grants by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts have been awarded to the following:
- Endless Mountain Music Festival, based in Wellsboro, will receive a grant of $3,221.
- Fabulous 1890s Weekend, based in Mansfield, will receive a grant of $1,206.
“Although the Council on the Arts has announced a decrease in the size of grants this year due to budget constraints, I know every bit of funding these programs receive is put to good use,” said Baker. “Cultural programs like these are important in providing both educational and recreational opportunities for attendees and boosting the tourism industry in the region.”
According to the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, over the past five years it has expanded the number of grantees it supports from 400 to more than 600. State funding allows these organizations to deliver public programs to the people of Pennsylvania.
