Baker’s Senior Expo Slated for Aug. 4 in Wellsboro
HARRISBURG – Rep. Matt Baker (R-Tioga/Bradford/Potter) will host a Senior Expo on Friday, Aug. 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wellsboro Area High School, 225 Nichols St. in Wellsboro.

The event, which typically draws approximately 1,000 attendees, will feature more than 75 vendors from federal, state and county agencies; area businesses; and health organizations providing information and answering questions important to senior citizens.

“The event seems to grow each year and has become a great place to meet up with friends and neighbors,” said Baker. “This community event focuses on the topics important to senior citizens and their caregivers. Whether a senior is active and looking for tips on exercise or opportunities to volunteer, or if an individual has declining health issues and is searching for home care assistance or has questions about Medicaid, we have experts at the expo who can help.”

The Pennsylvania mobile veterans outreach van will be available during the expo to answer questions, offer counseling and help veterans obtain assistance. The Wellsboro Police Department will also be offering a drug take-back program in which individuals can bring in their outdated or no longer used prescription drugs for proper disposal.

Admission to the expo is free and light refreshments will be served, door prizes will be awarded, and live music will be featured. Free shuttle bus service will also be available from nearby parking lots around the school.

The event is being co-sponsored by the Elder Services Work Group of the Tioga County Partnership for Community Health.
