Baker Says Tioga County Townships to Receive More Than $9 Million to Construct New Community Water System
HARRISBURG - The PENNVEST Board recently met and approved several awards, including one in the 68th Legislative District, announced state Rep. Matt Baker (R-Tioga/Bradford/Potter).

The Upper Tioga River Regional Authority was awarded a grant/loan combination for the construction of a new regional community water system in Convington, Putman and Richmond townships. The new system will include 56,000 feet of water main and a 400,000-gallon concrete finish water storage tank.

“Funding will help ensure residents and businesses have access to clean water,” said Baker. “Currently, a significant number of private wells in the vicinity of the Business Route 15 corridor have tested positive for contaminants. The new regional water system will purchase bulk water from Blossburg Municipal Authority.”

The grant portion of the award is $2,455,336. The loan portion is in the amount of $6,463,664 with a term of 360 months and an interest rate of 1 percent.
