Baker Welcomes $45,000 Grant for Tioga County Conservation District
State Rep. Matt Baker (R-Bradford/Tioga) today congratulated the Tioga County Conservation District upon receiving a $45,000 grant from the Department of Environmental Protection.
“During these tough economic times, organizations such as our conservation districts suffer greatly from a loss of funding to complete needed projects,” said Baker. “Fortunately, in Tioga County, the organization was able to qualify for funding that will allow it to improve an important local waterway.”
Baker said the grant will be used to install multiple grade control structures and erosion barriers in the channel of a tributary to Hammond Creek beginning at the downstream end of the Back Road culvert and extending downstream to the Main Street culvert in the Village of Millerton, Jackson Township.
“These types of improvements will help us preserve these vital natural resources by staving off stream embankment erosion,” said Baker. “I commend the conservation district on being selected to receive this grant from the Department of Environmental Protection.”
