Grant Funding to Benefit Bradford County Communities
Nearly $650,000 in state recycling funds will be directed toward programs in Bradford County and Sayre Borough, Reps. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) and Matt Baker (R-Bradford/Tioga) announced today.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Recycling Development and Implementation Grant Program has awarded Northern Tier Solid Waste Authority $304,717 for its recycling center and Sayre Borough $343,000 for its yard waste composting program.
“I am very pleased that recycling is becoming a habit to more and more residents in rural Pennsylvania,” Pickett said. “Grants like the ones being awarded to these agencies represent an important investment, not only in our environment, but in conserving our precious natural resources.”
“The widespread community effort to recycle is helping us reduce the amount of trash in our landfills and preserve our natural resources,” said Baker. “This is a significant amount of state funding that will go a long way toward continuing those efforts. I applaud Bradford County and Sayre Borough on their leadership in recycling which led to the awarding of this funding.”
Priorities for funding this year included inventive-based programs, alternative fuel vehicles, multi-government projects, and new fiber collection and processing programs.
